      Historic Latta Plantation is a circa 1800 cotton plantation and living history farm, located within Latta Plantation Nature Preserve.  Tours of the Latta home are guided, and tours of the grounds are self-guided.

Upcoming Events

November 27-28, 2009 (10am-4pm)  A Plantation Christmas  Start the holiday season by stepping back in time for a 19th century Christmas celebration.  Tour the plantation and learn about early American Christmas traditions.  Free with regular admission ($6 for adults, $5 for seniors and students, ages 5 and under free).

November 30-December 1, 2009  CLOSED FOR WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT!

December 5, 2009 (6-9pm) Candlelight Christmas)  Step into an 1820s Christmas as you tour the plantation by candlelight!  In the house you will see dancing, meet James and Jane Latta, enjoy the excitement of children before bedtime, and more!  Visit the animals in the carriage barn, enjoy the smells of Christmas in the kitchen, and see how slaves celebrated in the cabin.  Admission is $6 per person, ages 5 and under free.

December 9, 2009 (12-4pm) A Homeschool Christmas  Celebrate Christmas in 19th century style!  The house will be decorated for the season! Homeschoolers will learn about 19th century American Christmas traditions in each room and meet a Victorian St. Nick!  Visit the kitchen and see Christmas goodies cooking on the hearth.  Learn about Christmas for those who were enslaved on the plantation in the cabin.  Warm up by the fire and take a snack break!  Crafts are included with admission and will include a wreath ornament and rosemary twig decoration.  Admission is $5 per person, ages 4 and under are free.  No RSVP required!
