Soldier Camps

Civil War Soldier Camp
An action packed week filled with drills, battles, and 19th century plantation living. Children will enjoy exploring the grounds and hiking throughout the woods while in a mock battle. Participants will receive a kepi hat, canteen, toy musket, and camp t-shirt to keep and use throughout the week. A graduation will take place the last day of camp while parents visit to see the rookie soldiers demonstrate an actual American Civil War battle which they study throughout the week. This highly interactive, and educational, camp welcomes boys and girls ages 8-12
2016 Dates: July 18-21 and August 1-4 (9am-3pm) each day.

Revolutionary War Soldier Camp
Boys and girls ages 8-12 can relive the American Revolution as a Patriot or Loyalist, during a fun filled week of drills, battles, colonial life, and much more! Children will enjoy exploring the grounds and hiking throughout the woods while participating in mock battles. Participants will receive a tri-corn hat, canteen, toy musket, and camp t-shirt to keep and use throughout the week. A graduation will take place the last day of camp while parents visit to see the rookie soldiers demonstrate an actual American Revolutionary War battle which they study throughout the week. This highly interactive and educational camp is perfect for your little history buff!
2016 Dates: June 13-16 (9am-3pm) each day.

53rd Camp
Soldiers who have graduated from the Civil War camp can enlist into the 53rd camp. This intense training course is a week dedicated to learning in-depth the primitive cooking, camping, drilling, and battling skills needed for campers interested in reenacting.This camp welcomes youngsters ages 13 and up

Girls Camps

Ms Janes Academy
This Antebellum era camp takes girls ages 8-12 back in time to see what life was like for women during the time of the Civil War. Hands-on activities include making fans, sewing, weaving, open-hearth cooking, making ice cream, tie-dying, and Olde English Country Dancing to name a few. Girls will enjoy strolling the grounds and learning of life in the North Carolina backcountry during the 19th century. Campers will have a showcase and graduation the last day of camp to demonstrate their skills, including a dance performance, to their parents.
2016 Camp Dates: July 18-21 & August 1-4 (9am-3pm) each day.

Farm Camps

Mini Farm Camp
This camp is for preschoolers ages 4-5 who want to learn about farm animals. Interactive activities are scheduled daily and are catered to their age. Farm activities like pony rides, planting flowers, crafts, games, making butter, and of course getting up close and personal with all of the Latta farm animals including sheep, chickens, pigs and more! 
2016 Camp Dates: *May 31-June 2 and August 9-11 (9am-12pm) each day. 
This camp is perfect for a "mommy's morning out!"

Junior Farm Camp
This camp is for school children ages 6-8 who love the outdoors! This camp offers age-appropriate farming experiences for kids who enjoy nature and animals. Kids will participate in games and mock farm chores while learning about agriculture and its importance throughout history. Campers will hike, do scavenger hunts, games, plant flowers, make butter, make candles, and enjoy pony rides. All participants will receive a camp t-shirt to keep. 
2016 Camp Dates: June 20-23 and July 11-14 (9am-1pm) each day.

Historic Encounters Summer Camp
Consider this camp for your children ages 9-12. Children will enjoy a number of active outdoors activities including primitive artisan skills like woodworking and fire starting, along with working with the Latta farm animals, and enjoying canoeing and horseback riding among others. 
2016 Camp Dates: June 27-30 (9am-3pm) each day.

Advanced Farm Camps
This is an intense, extremely hands-on training course in all things "farming" for ages 13-17. The course will include animal husbandry, historic natural farming techniques, woodworking, working hands on with all of the Latta farm animals, and so much more! This camp is designed for those with a serious interest in learning about farming, animals, and agriculture, as well as those who have a future interest in veterinary medicine.
2016 Camp Dates: June 20-23 (9am-3pm) each day.
