      Historic Latta Plantation is a circa 1800 cotton plantation and living history farm, located within Latta Plantation Nature Preserve.  Tours of the Latta home are guided, and tours of the grounds are self-guided.

 Upcoming Events 

February 12, 2010 (12-4pm) Victorian Valentine  Living history day set aside for homeschoolers and their families.  Learn about 19th century Valentine customs, make your own Valentine with a quill pen, learn English Country dancing, fan language, and more!  Admission is $5 per person, ages 4 and under free.  No rsvp required.

February 13 (11am-4pm)  - 14 (1-4pm), 2010 Valentine Sweetheart Tours  Step back in time with your sweetheart as you tour the Latta home and hear sweetheart stories from the past!  Tours begin every hour.  Free with regular admission. The Latta Equestrian Center offers carriage rides- call 704-992-1550 for more information.

February 20 (10am-4pm) - 21 (1-4pm), 2010 Civil War Mustering Event  Step into the Mecklenburg County of 1862 as civilians are mustered into the Mecklenburg Grays.  Scenarios will be repeated throughout the weekend, including stump speeches, medical examinations, drilling, civilian demos, and more!  Free with regular site admission.

February 27, 2010 (10am-4pm) Back of the Big House  Learn about the lives of those who were enslaved on the plantation through first person interpretation and living history.  Free with regular admission.

February 27, 2010 (9am-12pm or 1-4pm) Knitting Workshop  Learn the basics of knitting or solidify your skills! (Cast on, knit stitch, purl stitch, simple patterns, and cast off.) Each session is four hours long and limited to 6 participants. The class fee of $35 includes yarn and knitting needles to take home with you.
