Games to Try

Touch Wood

Touch Wood

This game is played outdoors. All players, except one who is "It," start by standing around touching wood., like a tree. They keep running from one wood thing to another. While they are running, "It" tries to catch them. If "It" touches someone who is not touching wood, that player becomes "It."

Jinglers
This is an inside game. All players, except one, are blindfolded. The player without the blindfold moves around the room, jingling a bell. The players with the blindfold try to catch the jingler.. The one that does gets to take the jingler's place.

Word Making
Each player has a piece of paper and a pencil. There is a timekeeper, too. The timekeeper chooses a long word like " Mediterranean," and each player writes it on paper. When they have done that, the players start with the letter "M" and have two minutes to write down as many words as they can that start with "m." At the end of two minutes, the timekeeper yells, "stop." They then go around, one by one, reading out what words they have written. Any word not written down by anyone else gives that player one point. After that is done, the timekeeper has them start writing words that start with "e" and stops them after two minutes. They then go through their lists again. After that, they move on to "d" and so on. When they get to another "e," they skip over it since "e" has already been done. When all the letters have been used, the game is over and points are totaled. The player with the highest points wins.
