Old  Fashioned  Beef Stew



 ½  cup  Flour
 ½  tsp  Paprika
 ¼  tsp  Pepper
 2  lbs  Stew Beef
 1  tbl  Shortening
 1  qt   Hot Water
 3  med  Potatoes  [peeled, cubed]
 1  med  Turnip  [cubed]
 4       Carrots  [quartered]
 1  cup  Celery  [diced]
 1       Green Pepper  [cut into strips]
 ½  cup  Onion  [diced]
 2  tsp  Salt  [optional]
 2       Beef Bouillon cubes
 
 

Mix flour, paprika & pepper; roll meat in flour mixture.

Brown meat in hot shortening.

Add water; simmer covered for 2 hours.  (add more water, if necessary)

Add remaining ingredients.

Cook until vegetables are tender, about  30 minutes.
