Fall Homeschool Day: Homesteading 101
October 16, 2018 (10am-2pm) Homesteading is back in style! Join us as we bridge the gap between early American homesteading and today’s trend. Demonstrations and timed presentations will include backyard chicken keeping, cool weather crops, food preservation, wash day, farm animals, children’s chores, and more. Admission is $6 per person, ages 4 and under free. Tickets available at event.
November 23-24, 2018 (10am-5pm) Step into an 1860s Christmas as you stroll through the plantation house, grounds, and outbuildings. Live Christmas music and local artisans with items for sale will be in the carriage barn. Stay all day and enjoy a hot meal from the food vendors. Admission is $10 for adults, $9 for seniors and students, ages 5 and under, and members, free. Tickets available at event.
Christmas tours by candlelight
December 1 & 8, 2018 Join us for a Christmas themed tour of the plantation house by candlelight. The tour will conclude with hot cider and cookies by the fire in the plantation kitchen. Tours are at 6pm, 7pm, 8pm. Pre-registration is required and the cost is $15 per person
A homeschool christmas
December 6, 2018 (10am-2pm) Learn about early American Christmas traditions in the Latta house, smell Christmas open hearth Christmas baking in the kitchen, and visit the farm animals. Children can make a Christmas craft to keep. Admission is $6 per person, ages 4 and under, and members, free. Tickets available at event.
old fashioned christmas tea
December 8-9, 2018 (2-4pm) Celebrate Christmas in Mecklenburg’s oldest log cabin! Learn about 19th century Christmas traditions, enjoy hot tea and sweet treats, and make a Christmas craft. Pre-registration is required and the cost is $30 per pair ($10 for additional guests.)
