Fall Home School Day

Cold Weather Preparation

Harvesting season brings about the need to prepare for the long cold winters ahead. Visit Latta at this special event which focuses on winter preparations that would have been vital for survival on a 19th century back-country farm. Students are able to get hands-on as they learn to chink a cabin for warmth, sew and knit warm garments, preserve freshly harvested foods, chop and store firewood efficiently, tan hides, and smoke meats.

All of our home school days include hands-on activities to get each student involved. We encourage home school individuals as well as groups/co-ops.

Picnic areas are available for use, snack foods are available for purchase inside of the Latta gift shop. Rain or shine $6.00 per/person children 5 and under are FREE.
