Homeschool Day

Home school days are catered to students and include a vast variety of lectures, hands-on-learning, and more.

This events featured topics of focus will be Colonial Charlotte.  Students will interactively learn Charlotte's role in the American Revolution, including the signing of the Mec-Dec (Mecklenburg County Declaration of Independence). Other activities include: Meeting a Yeoman farmer in his cabin to see how he and his family made things they needed from the land. Watch sheep shearing live. See open-hearth cooking demonstrations. Meet historians who will share the history of Queen Charlotte, the cities namesake. Students will be able to participate in gold-panning (did you know North Carolina had the FIRST gold rush?) and even play dress-up for the camera while wearing colonial clothing. Patriots will also be mustered into the Army while participating in a mock drill with a wooden musket in-tow.

Pack a picnic and dress for outdoor play. Ongoing demos throughout the day.
