Homeschool Day: Waste not, Want not

This homeschool day is covering the idea of how people during the Latta's era would reduce, reuse, and recycle everyday materials to fill a need. Topics may be covered including: Reusing spent candle wax to make a new batch of candles. Using corn husk to make brooms, fill tick mattresses, make dolls for children, and even prepare in a way to feed livestock. Fruit peels could be candied, used as flavorings in food, or even as potpourri. Fabric scraps would be re-purposed into creating fire starting materials, patching clothing, and piecing together quilts.
