Revolutionary War Reenactment

Revolutionary War Battle Reenactment

Labor Day Weekend – September 2nd & 3rd, 2017

Historic Latta Plantation is excited to bring the local history of revolutionary Charlotte to life in September. The circa 1800 living-history farm and cotton plantation will buzz with action in honoring the history of the founding of the region as we know it today. Throughout the weekend meet with Colonel Polk and General Lord Cornwallis. Learn of the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence and see it’s repercussions as the Revolutionary War makes it’s way through the local communities. Patriot and British soldier camps will be open for visitors to venture through. Children’s drills will take place daily and are a hit among the youngsters. The Latta farm animals will be out for the children to meet and the home, outbuildings, barn, and cabins will be open for demonstrations.

Eighteenth century vendors (called sutlers) will be on-site selling time period goods as well as food vendors, including Appalachian Smoke, Anna’s Sweet Treats, and Olde Mecklenburg Brewery. Live action battles will take place in the front lawn of the Latta home. Saturday will feature two battles including The Battle of Charlottestown at 12:00 noon, and the Battle of the Bees at 3:00pm. Sunday one battle at 2:00pm will take place, all other demonstrations are ongoing all weekend.

The reenactment takes place at Historic Latta Plantation located at the very back of the Latta Plantation Nature Preserve at 5225 Sample Rd. Huntersville, NC 28078.
