Soldiers Camps

Civil War Soldier's Camp


An action packed week filled with drills, battles, and 19th century plantation living. Children will enjoy exploring the grounds and hiking throughout the woods while in a mock battle. Participants will receive a kepi hat, canteen, toy musket, and camp t-shirt to keep and use throughout the week. A graduation will take place the last day of camp while parents visit to see the rookie soldiers demonstrate an actual American Civil War battle which they study throughout the week. This highly interactive, and educational, camp welcomes boys and girls ages 8-12
2018 Dates: July 16-19 and July 30-August 2 <Union Side Full during second week> (9am-3pm) each day.

Revolutionary War Soldier Camp
Boys and girls ages 8-12 can relive the American Revolution as a Patriot or Loyalist, during a fun filled week of drills, battles, colonial life, and much more! Children will enjoy exploring the grounds and hiking throughout the woods while participating in mock battles. Participants will receive a tri-corn hat, canteen, toy musket, and camp t-shirt to keep and use throughout the week. A graduation will take place the last day of camp while parents visit to see the rookie soldiers demonstrate an actual American Revolutionary War battle which they study throughout the week. This highly interactive and educational camp is perfect for your little history buff!
2018 Dates: June 11-14 (9am-3pm) each day.

Girl's Camp

Pioneer Girls 

Formerly known as Ms. Janes Academy, this exciting camp takes girls ages 8-12 back in time to see what life was like for women during the time around the Civil War. Hands-on activities include making fans, sewing, weaving, open-hearth cooking, making ice cream, tie-dying, primitive shores, and Olde English Country Dancing to name a few. Girls will enjoy strolling the grounds and learning of life in the North Carolina backcountry during the 19th century. Campers will have a showcase and graduation the last day of camp to demonstrate their skills, including a dance performance, to their parents.
2018 Camp Dates: July 16-19 & July 30-August 2 <Second Week is full> (9am-3pm) each day.  This camp is ideal for crafty girls!!

Farm Camp

Mini Farm Camp (Ages 4-5)

This camp is for preschoolers ages 4-5 who want to learn about farm animals. Interactive activities are scheduled daily and are catered to their age. Farm activities like planting flowers, crafts, games, making butter, and of course getting up close and personal with all of the Latta farm animals including sheep, chickens, pigs and more! 
2018 Camp Dates: May 29-May 31 <First Week of Camp Canceled, second week available> and August 7-9  (9am-12pm) each day. 
This camp is perfect for a "mommy's morning out!"

Junior Farm Camp

This camp is for school children ages 6-8 who love the outdoors! This camp offers age-appropriate farming experiences for kids who enjoy nature and animals. Kids will participate in games and mock farm chores while learning about agriculture and its importance throughout history. Campers will hike, do scavenger hunts, games, plant flowers, make butter, and candles. All participants will receive a camp t-shirt to keep. 
2018 Camp Dates: June 18-21 and July 9-12 (9am-1pm) each day. This is one of our most popular farm camps!

Historic Encounters Camp

Historic Encounters Summer Camp
Consider this camp for your children ages 9-12. Children will enjoy a number of active outdoors activities including primitive artisan skills like woodworking and fire starting, along with working with the Latta farm animals, enjoying canoeing, hiking, and a Raptor experiance among others. 
2018 Camp Dates: June 25-28 & July 9-12 (9am-3pm) each day.
This camp is jam packed with outdoors activities!
